Restoration + Perspective

As I talk to those around me and scroll social media, my heart breaks for the hurting world. From the glimpses of hearts in every day conversations to deep, heart felt posts, I see a trend… We are burdened. It’s been over two months of quarantine and our souls are weary.

If you’ve been to Nashville, you most likely know of the beautiful Restoration Hardware. Each floor (there are four) captivates with perfectly coherent aesthetics. It’s room after room of soft lighting, glistening crystal and fresh linen. As you make your way to the next floor, even the stairways are enchanting. It’s so beautiful, you have to look up or you’ll miss the glistening chandeliers casting sunlight throughout the floor.

I’m reminded of this picture as I hear hearts crying for relief, some positive news, and answered prayer…

Restoration Hardware – These challenging days are causing us to be refined into the people God wants us to be. It’s the chiseling at our rough edges, the burning of pride, the tightening of our faith that changes us. It’s choosing joy on days that joy is much too hard to find. It’s holding onto hope that His promises are true when the daily news seems to say otherwise. It is a – Restoration – of our hearts to be who He calls us to be.

But the best part of this picture reminds me of perspective. Look up! Pause and take a moment to look up and be reminded that God is still on the throne.

“Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, The one who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing.” Isaiah 40:26.

He hears every desire, every cry of your heart, every burden that you almost can’t carry another day. And even in the silence, He is there. He cares more than any human can care. And sometimes it takes us looking up to remember we’re held, we’re loved and we’re forgiven. May your soul find hope for tomorrow and may you remember the beauty of looking up.
