Lately, I’ve been at a loss for words.
Among other things, we had two passing’s of dear loved ones within a month.
Often, I hear we are the clay in the Potter’s hand, but as of late, I feel like I’ve just been pounded.
I am not a perfectly rounded bowl, or curved vase. I am pressed flat by pressure and the burdens of life.
We each have a story. I used to work at Chick-fil-A and they would always tell us that each guest is walking in those doors with a story. Their own hurts but also loves. It wasn’t ours to fix their difficulties, but it was our opportunity to share light within the few moments we spent with them.
Life is oh so short, and lately I have been reminded of just how precious life is. God allows each of us to reflect Him in other people’s lives. He places people in our lives, be it for years or months or even a few minutes. No matter the time, God knows that person because He created that person.
Friends, I may not have experienced a lot of life, but I have experienced enough to know this.
Be intentional – in whatever you are doing be intentional. Maybe it’s a relationship, maybe it’s a project at work, maybe it’s simply going ahead and getting the door for someone or even letting them walk into the room before you. I am begging you. Please stop living life like it’s your free gift to spend how you so feel. It is a powerful and dangerous thing – more precious than you can imagine.
Seek God – Tauren Wells has a song that hasn’t left my mind or heart. The sweet words remind of God’s power and love. “God of the Hills and Valleys. Father you give and take away. Every joy and every pain through it all you will remain over it all.” Praise God the war has already been won. He is loving, all knowing and all powerful. Dear friends, you have one life! Are you living in a way that reflects the glory of your King? Your creator?
Life holds precious moments and as I seek to find those glimmers of light I’m reminded that even when life is too hard to carry, it’s not ours to carry in the first place. God is always good. Even when life is not, He always is. Even when we question the pains of life, His ways are higher.
Malachi 3:6 “I the Lord your God change not.”
In an ever changing world, how comforting to know He never does.
I don’t know what you’re carrying, but I know you don’t have to carry it alone.
Even on the hardest days, be a little more like the Chick-fil-A employee and be intentional about loving those around you.
I’ll close with this quote a friend recently posted, “The wound is where the light shines through.”
So precious friends, if you’re wounded, know God’s love is there, tenderly taking you in and carrying you. And maybe right now, you are to be a reflection of this light – brightening the lives of others.
