New Year

And just like that, we said goodbye to 2018! Instagram, Facebook and blogs are filled with recaps, Best Nine and people’s “word” of the year.

If you aren’t familiar with this, you choose one word to be your focus throughout the year. Inspiring, broad words are the best. Purpose, abundance, gratitude, presence – all thought-provoking, mindset-adjusting words.

As I think through this past year and look forward to the next, I wondered what my “word of the year” might be. If you know me, you know I am right-brained. To me, a year is blank pages waiting to be filled. For those of you who have chosen one word, I would love to join you, however consolidating 365 days into one word is a little too black and white for me.

You know, looking back on 2018, my heart is full. As I’ve shared in previous posts, 2017 into 2018 was in the top two for most difficult years yet. It changed, shaped and solemned me. However it truly blossomed into a year filled with warm memories, trips to new places, lots of laughs and exciting futures!

The magnolia blossom (made popular by Chip and Joanna Gaines) summarizes how the year progressed. These blossoms start off as tight bulbs, firmly closed. After a time, the tight bulb quickly opens to reveal a stately, creamy blossom. So, farewell to what I may call the “magnolia year.”

This upcoming year will be full of exciting life moments that I’m sure will make their way to Embracing the Journey. Will there be difficulties? Undoubtedly, but I am overwhelmed with an excited expectation of what’s to come!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you so very much for following Embracing the Journey. What started as a risk grew into something I never could have imagined – and you all are a big part of that! Your comments, messages, podcast recommendations and our many conversations have filled my life in oh so many ways!

This is a place where I want you to feel welcome! I would love to know what you want to see. Please feel free to drop a request in my dm’s! Your comments are welcomed with open arms (and ears)!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. – Hebrews 12:1

Instead of word for 2019, I decided to focus on a verse. May 2019 be a year of running the course already laid out by our Master Creator. May I seek Him more, love others more and enjoy every single day as the gift from God that it is!

If you have a word or phrase that’s your yearly inspiration, I would love to know!

So farewell 2018!

As the saying goes, “The good ol’ days are still to come!”

Happy New Year, friend!
